Private tours in Stockholm — built around you, not a script

I’m Zayera — your local guide in Stockholm, based here since 2008. Before that, I lived and worked in Zurich, Amsterdam, and Lausanne, and I was born and raised across several countries. Three working languages, a wide international perspective, and no fixed script. I guide private city walks, nature tours, car tours, and full-day routes for visitors who want Stockholm explained, not paraded.

Why book a local guide over a group tour

Stockholm has plenty of guides who’ll recite the dates on the Royal Palace. I do something different — I treat each tour as an experience built around the person in front of me.

A warm portrait of Zayera Khan laughing, Stockholm tour guide and travel leader.
  • Based in Stockholm since 2008. Built a life and a career here.
  • Three working languages. English, Swedish, German. Tour in your own language — get the city in nuance, not translation.
  • Cross-cultural lens. Years lived in Zurich, Amsterdam, and Lausanne before Stockholm — the city makes more sense once you’ve seen it from the outside first.
  • LGBTQ+ inclusive by experience. Former Stockholm Pride board member.
  • Design background. Twenty years in UX strategy — I pace the day so you finish curious, not tired out.

We were visiting Stockholm for the weekend and wanted to see its nature and Zayera offered us an 8km hike in an amazing forest and a swim in a very beautiful lake at the end. The experience was incredible.

Zayera was so polite and kind. I really recommend this tour if you want to see a different side of Stockholm and especially if you want to get out of the city for a while.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private Stockholm tour cost?

I don’t publish a fixed price list, since every tour is different — a two-hour walk costs less than a full day with a car. Tell me what you’re interested in, and I’ll come back within 24 hours with a route, duration, and a clear price quote. Once we’ve agreed the details, payment is made online, by Stripe, PayPal, or credit card — no surprises, no upsells.

What’s the maximum group size for a private tour?

Solo travellers, couples, family groups of eight — all welcome on walking tours. For driving tours, a private car seats up to three guests; for groups of four to nine, I arrange a rented minivan at extra cost. For larger parties, I have experience guiding full coach tours of up to fifty passengers, from professional guiding work in Vestland, Norway.

Do you offer Stockholm tours in German?

Yes. German is one of my working languages, learned during years lived in Zurich. A dedicated German-language page runs at zayera.com/reiseberaterin for travellers who prefer the entire experience in German — from the first email to the tour itself.

Are your tours LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes, built on real experience as a former Stockholm Pride board member. I can build a tour around queer Stockholm history, current community spaces, or simply guide you through the city as someone with whom you don’t need to perform a different version of yourself.

Can you accommodate mobility needs?

Often, yes. Tell me what you need when you get in touch, and I’ll adapt the route — avoiding stairs, cobblestones, or long walks. For guests with significant mobility needs, a private car (or a rented minivan) opens up the city in a way walking tours can’t.

Do Stockholm tours run year-round?

Yes. Winter Stockholm is different from summer Stockholm — quieter, darker, more intimate — and I’ll shape the tour to match. I’ll also tell you honestly when conditions aren’t worth the visit, the archipelago in February, for example.

Can I bring children on a private Stockholm tour?

Yes. I shape the route, pace, and stories to keep children engaged, skip the parts that bore them, and lean into the parts they’ll talk about for years.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 48 hours before the tour for a full refund of any online payment. Within 48 hours, the payment covers the time held. Stockholm weather is rarely a reason to cancel — umbrellas exist, and we’ll find indoor moments.

Ready to plan a tour?

Tell me when you’re arriving, how long you have in Stockholm, and what’s drawn you here. I’ll come back within 24 hours with a route, duration, and price quote.
