A Global Journey to Stockholm

international upbringing and a rich, diverse career spanning multiple continents.
Karachi, Pakistan
1974–1978
Born into a Sunni Muslim family with vibrant roots in Punjab and Kashmir, my native language and mother tongue is Urdu. This foundation gave me a deep appreciation for rich cultural heritage from day one.

The Nigeria Years
1978–1984
At age four, my family relocated to Nigeria, where my parents worked as college teachers. Spending six foundational years attending primary school there instilled in me an early sense of wonder, adaptability, and global curiosity.

Growing Up in Sweden
1984–2000
In 1984, we moved to the historic university city of Lund, Sweden, where my father pursued his PhD in Chemistry at Lund University. I spent my teenage years immersing myself in Swedish culture and education, attending Svenshögskolan, Fäladsgården, and Katedralskolan.

Switzerland
2001- 2008
For six years I worked at Swisscom as Lead Usability and Interaction Designer, shaping the UX for Bluewin TV — one of Switzerland’s first IPTV platforms. From there, I moved to Lausanne as Customer Experience Manager at Orange Switzerland, doubling customer interactions. Seven years across German- and French-speaking Switzerland, inside European telecoms.

Stockholm has been my base since 2008. Sixteen years of senior UX leadership across healthcare, public sector, and enterprise — building design systems, leading teams, and delivering at national scale.

I studied Cognitive Science at the University of Skövde (1994–1997), worked as a Research Assistant at KTH in Stockholm, and earned my Master’s degree in Interaction Design from Malmö University (1998–2000).
International Corporate Execution
California · Zurich · Amsterdam · Lausanne
In 2000, I launched my professional career with Cambridge Technology Partners, designing systems for Vodafone in California. I then moved to Zurich, Switzerland, spending five years at Swisscom (2001–2006) leading UX for their IPTV platform (Bluewin TV) while mastering German. My path then took me to Amsterdam as a Customer Experience Analyst for Forrester Research (2006–2007) and to Lausanne as a Customer Experience Manager for Orange Switzerland (2007–2008).

2008–Present
For nearly two decades, I have been trusted by Sweden’s largest consulting firms and critical public sector institutions—including Arbetsförmedlingen, 1177 Vårdguiden, Scania, FMV, Försäkringskassan, Jordbruksverket, Folksam KPA, HSB, and Azets. In these roles, I built design systems, managed complex logistics, and led cross-functional teams of 10+ people.
Advanced Leadership & Coaching (2018–Present)
To further sharpen my group dynamics and people-management skills, I formalised my training with a Diploma in Coaching, facilitation courses at Fridhems Folkhögskola, and advanced leadership diplomas from Långholmens Folkhögskola (2018 & 2022). Since then, I have proudly coached and mentored around 20 professionals through critical career milestones.
